The short version

  • The Collector plan is free. Paid plans are monthly, and you can cancel anytime.
  • Subscribe in the iPhone app through the App Store, or on our website. One subscription per account.
  • Market prices are estimates, not offers, and you set the final price.
  • You must be 13 or older to have an account. If you are under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission to subscribe.
  • Be fair to your customers.
  • Don’t copy, scrape, or take apart the app.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and HSC Commerce LLC, a Hawaii limited liability company doing business as CardBull (“CardBull,” “we,” “us” or “our”). CardBull is operated by HSC Commerce LLC. They cover the CardBull app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, the CardBull web app, our website at cardbullapp.com, and the related services we provide (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it, and “you” includes that business.

1. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old to have an account. When you create an account, we ask the month and year you were born to check this, and we don’t keep it. If you are under 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), please read these Terms with a parent or guardian. You must have your parent’s or guardian’s permission before you subscribe to a paid plan, and they are responsible for its payments. Children under 13 may not have their own account; a parent or guardian may let their child use the parent’s own account, under that adult’s supervision. You may use the Service for your own collection or for your business. You may not use the Service if the law prohibits you from doing so.

2. Your account

  • Give us accurate information when you sign up and keep your email address up to date. We use it to send you important notices.
  • Confirm your email address with the 6-digit code we send you. You can use the app right away, but until you confirm, AI card checks are limited to 5 a day, and choosing a paid plan, resetting your password, and putting up a storefront or sending offers wait. After 7 days, the app asks for the code before you carry on; nothing is deleted.
  • Use an email address you will keep. Temporary email addresses can’t be used, and one inbox can have no more than two accounts.
  • Keep your password private and your phone secure. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
  • Each account is for one person. Do not share your login details. To let other people help at your table, use team logins (section 3). A parent or guardian may let their child use the parent’s account under their supervision, and is responsible for that use.
  • Contact us right away if you think someone has used your account without permission.

3. The Service

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, and to use the website and the web app, for your own collection or your own business, as your plan allows.

Plans. The Service has these plans:

  • Collector (free). For your own collection: up to 500 cards (counting every copy, sealed products included), unlimited scanning with your phone, 25 AI card checks a month, and 30 cards a month with Continuous scanning. It includes Bulk Scan, Complete this set, price movers, 30 days of price history, slab tracking with certificate checks, spreadsheet (CSV) export, what you paid and what your collection is worth, a Wanted list with scan alerts, and sync between your phone and the web. It does not include graded prices, price alerts, the Apple Watch app, the tools for buying, selling or trading, shows, customers, or the other Vendor features.
  • Collector Pro. Everything in Collector, plus unlimited cards, 75 AI card checks a month, unlimited Continuous scanning, 180 days of price history (more as it builds up), graded (slab) prices, price alerts, and the Apple Watch app.
  • Vendor. Everything in Collector Pro, plus 150 AI card checks a month and the tools for selling at your table: buying, selling and trading with receipts, asking prices, one parked deal at a time, shows with the cash box and show reports, your buy, sell and trade rates, your business name, profile and receipts, and inviting vendors.
  • Vendor Pro. Everything in Vendor, plus 500 AI card checks a month, up to 10 parked deals, customers and their want lists, holds and layaway, an online storefront with offers and a QR table sign, price labels, price tiers, tax and year-end reports, Excel export, and team logins.

Each plan’s features and limits are also shown on our pricing page, in the app, and in your account. Each card an AI card check identifies counts as one check, and a Bulk Scan photo counts as 2, however many cards it holds (none if no card is found); a check that doesn’t identify a card isn’t counted. Monthly checks reset on the 1st of each month (Hawaii time), and unused checks do not carry over. Every plan also has daily limits on AI card checks and on price updates, to prevent misuse. On the free Collector plan, on Collector Pro and during free trials, some of these daily limits are shared with other accounts, so AI card checks or price updates may pause until the next day (Hawaii time). While price updates are paused, the Service shows the latest saved prices. We may change what a plan includes or its limits. For material changes, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 15 days before they take effect. A lower limit never deletes cards you already have: an account over a limit keeps everything, but can’t add more until it is under the limit or on a plan with a higher one.

Team logins (Vendor Pro). You can invite people to work in your business’s account with their own login. Two people besides you are included. Each extra person is $8 a month, or a $5 show pass lets one person work one show of up to 4 days; a second show pass for the same person in the same calendar month costs $3 and covers that person for the rest of the month. Extra people and show passes are sold on our website and added to a Vendor Pro subscription bought there, and a show pass can be cancelled before its first day for a credit on your next bill. You are responsible for the people you invite and for what they do in your account. Team members use their own login, must keep it to themselves, and see and do only what you allow; you can remove a team member at any time. If your plan no longer includes team logins, team members lose access until it does again; nothing is deleted.

We may add, change, or remove features over time. Test versions of the app distributed through Apple’s TestFlight may contain errors and are also subject to Apple’s terms.

4. Free trial

  • The free trial gives you Vendor Pro for 14 days. If you join through another vendor’s invite link, your trial is 30 days. A trial that comes with sign-up starts when you confirm your email address.
  • During the trial, you have every Vendor Pro feature, with the trial’s own limits: up to 150 AI card checks a month (100 a day), and fewer price updates a day than a paid plan, shared with other free trials.
  • If you start on the free Collector plan, you can start the trial later, once, from the plans in the app or your account on the website, if you haven’t had one. The trial is not available once you have subscribed to Vendor or Vendor Pro.
  • No payment card is needed to start a trial, and a trial never turns into a paid subscription by itself. You are charged only if you choose to subscribe.
  • If you subscribe during your trial, you pay from that day and the trial ends. The trial days you had left are kept: when that subscription later ends because you canceled it, you get them free on the plan you paid for. They are lost if the subscription ends because a payment failed, was disputed, or was refunded.
  • When a trial ends without a subscription, your account moves to the free Collector plan: the features Collector doesn’t include stop working until you choose a plan that has them, and your deals, shows and customers are kept but hidden. We do not delete your data when a trial ends, as described in Your data.
  • Free trials are limited to one per person. Do not create extra accounts to get additional trials. Deleting your account and signing up again with the same email address within 12 months does not give you another trial, and the AI card checks you used that month carry over.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Plans and prices. The Collector plan is free. Collector Pro is $5.99 per month, Vendor is $19 per month, and Vendor Pro is $39 per month. Founder pricing of $19 per month for Vendor Pro is available to the first 50 vendors on our website, as described below. In the app, the App Store shows the price before you subscribe, and that is the price Apple charges. If you subscribed to a plan at an earlier standard price, you keep that price while your subscription to that plan stays continuously active. All paid plans are billed monthly; there are no yearly plans. Prices are in US dollars and do not include taxes unless stated. You are responsible for any taxes that apply; we may add them to a website bill where required, and Apple adds the taxes it collects to purchases in the app.

Where you pay. You can subscribe to any paid plan either in the iPhone app, through Apple’s App Store, or on our website. A subscription works in the app and on the website for the account it was bought for, and an account can have one subscription at a time. Subscriptions bought on our website are processed by Stripe, and Stripe’s terms also apply to your payment. Subscriptions bought in the app are sold by Apple, billed to the Apple Account signed in on your device, and Apple’s terms (the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions) also apply. We never see your payment card either way.

Under 18. If you are under 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission before you subscribe, and your parent or guardian is responsible for the payments.

Billing and renewal. Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month until you cancel. If you subscribe on our website, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method each month for the subscription price plus any applicable taxes. If you subscribe in the app, Apple charges your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase and at each renewal, at the price shown in the app when you subscribed plus any taxes Apple collects, and the subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current month. You can see and change it under Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, or from Manage subscription in the app.

Changing plans. For a subscription bought on our website, you can move to another paid plan at any time from your account page, and Stripe shows you the change and the amount before anything is charged. The change takes effect right away. If you move to a more expensive plan, you pay the difference for the rest of the current month. If you move to a less expensive plan, the unused part of the current month is credited, prorated, to your next bill. For a subscription bought in the app, plan changes follow Apple’s rules: moving to a more expensive plan takes effect right away, and Apple refunds the unused part of the current month; moving to a less expensive plan takes effect at the end of the current month, and you keep the current plan until then. Either way, features the new plan doesn’t include are hidden, not deleted, and come back if you move back to a plan that has them. To move to the free Collector plan, cancel your subscription. Switching plans ends Founder pricing, as described below.

Canceling. If you subscribed on our website, you can cancel at any time from Manage subscription on your account page. If you subscribed in the app, cancel by turning off auto-renewal under Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone (or Settings > Account > Your account > Manage subscription in the app). Either way, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid month, and you keep access until then. After that, your account moves to the free Collector plan. Deleting your account cancels a website subscription right away; it does not cancel an App Store subscription, which only you can cancel on your device, as described in Suspension and termination.

Refunds. Payments are non-refundable, and we do not give refunds or credits for partial months or unused time, except the credit for moving to a less expensive plan on our website described above, and except where the law requires it. For a subscription bought in the app, refunds are decided and made by Apple under Apple’s own policy; you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a subscription, your access to the paid plan ends when the refund is made.

Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe (for a website subscription) or Apple (for an App Store subscription) may retry it. For an App Store subscription, Apple may keep your plan active for a grace period while it retries. After that, your access to paid features is paused until the payment succeeds, and if it does not, the subscription ends.

Price changes. We may change our prices. We will email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, and it will take effect at your next billing date after that notice period. If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect. For a subscription bought in the app, Apple tells you about a price increase and, where Apple’s rules require it, asks for your agreement before the new price applies; if you do not agree, the subscription ends at the end of the current month. Founder pricing is not affected by price changes while your Founder subscription stays continuously active.

6. Founder pricing

  • Founder pricing is for Vendor Pro, is available only for subscriptions bought on our website, and Founder spots are limited to 50 vendors. A spot is reserved for you when you start your free trial (once your email address is confirmed), or go to checkout for Vendor Pro on our website, while spots are still available, and it becomes yours once you subscribe to Vendor Pro there. If your trial ends without a paid subscription, or you choose a different plan, we may release your spot to another vendor.
  • Founders pay $19 per month for Vendor Pro, instead of the standard price, for as long as their Vendor Pro subscription stays continuously active. Founder pricing comes only with a new subscription. If you cancel, switch to another plan, or your subscription ends because a payment is not made, your Founder pricing ends, and any new subscription is at the standard price in effect at that time.
  • Founders get everything Vendor Pro includes, including features we add to Vendor Pro later, at no additional charge while their Founder subscription stays active. Extra team members and show passes beyond the people Vendor Pro includes are charged at their usual prices.
  • Founder status belongs to your account and cannot be transferred or sold.

7. Referrals, invites and free access

Referral program. If your plan includes inviting vendors (Vendor and Vendor Pro), you can invite other vendors with your personal referral link. A vendor who joins through your link gets a 30-day free trial instead of 14 days. When that vendor makes their first subscription payment, on our website or in the app, you get a reward. If you pay on our website, it is a credit worth one month of your own subscription, but no more than the amount of that payment, applied to your future subscription charges. If you subscribed in the app, it is extra days added to your subscription’s renewal date instead: the friend’s payment as a share of one month of your own plan, never more than one month. If you do not have a paid subscription when that vendor makes their first payment, you receive the reward when they make their next payment after you subscribe.

Invite friends. When a friend joins with your invite link or code and starts using the app, you and your friend each get extra AI card checks, and you get more when more of your friends have joined. The app shows the current numbers when you invite. Rewards count for a limited number of friends each month. Extra AI card checks from invites can be used for 90 days.

  • Referral credits, extra days and extra AI card checks have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and cannot be exchanged for money.
  • You may not refer or invite yourself, create accounts to earn rewards, or use spam or misleading promotions. We may withhold or reverse rewards earned in violation of these rules.
  • We may change or end the referral program or invite rewards at any time. Rewards already earned before a change will be honored.

Affiliates. If you join through a link or code from one of our affiliates, we note which affiliate referred you so that we can pay them under their own agreement with us. It does not change what you pay.

Invite codes and free access. We may issue invite codes that give free access to a paid plan for a stated period, such as 14, 30, or 90 days, or without an end date, and we may give an account a paid plan at no charge for a period we choose. Invite codes are personal, can be used only once, have no cash value, and cannot be sold or transferred. When the free period ends, your account moves to the plan you pay for, or to the free Collector plan. We may revoke an invite code that is misused. For free access without an end date, we may end it by giving you at least 30 days’ notice, after which you can subscribe to continue.

8. Market prices and calculations

Market prices in the Service are market data provided by JustTCG. Some come from our other licensed market data providers. They update daily. Card details and pictures come from free card catalogs. All of them are listed on our Data sources & credits page. Prices are estimates. They may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and they may not reflect what a card will actually sell for. Condition adjustments, buy and trade percentages, totals, and profit figures are calculations based on those estimates and on the settings you choose. Card identification, whether your phone reads the card or an AI card check identifies it, may also be wrong.

AI card checks. An AI card check sends a photo of the card to our server and on to our AI provider to identify it, as described in our Privacy Policy. The app asks your permission before the first AI card check on each device or browser, and you can turn AI card checks off at any time in Settings. Only send photos of cards, and keep people, documents and other personal information out of the picture.

All prices, calculations, and reports are provided “as is” for your convenience, with no guarantee of accuracy. They are not appraisals, and they are not financial, tax, or legal advice. Always check a price and a total before you complete a deal.

Price data is licensed to us from third parties for use inside the Service. You may not scrape, copy in bulk, resell, or redistribute it, except as part of your own collection or inventory records and the exports the Service provides.

9. Your business is your responsibility

If you use the Service for a business, it is a tool to help you run it. We are not a party to any deal you make, and we do not process payments between you and your customers. You alone are responsible for:

  • your purchases, sales, and trades, the prices and offers you make, and any disputes with your customers;
  • collecting and paying all taxes on your sales, and keeping the business records the law requires;
  • getting any business licenses, show permits, or other permits you need, and following show and venue rules;
  • following all laws that apply to you, including laws on consumer protection, secondhand goods, and customer privacy; and
  • what you show to customers on your screen. Features like privacy mode help, but you remain responsible for what is displayed.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • buy, sell, or trade illegal, stolen, or counterfeit goods, or present reprints, proxies, or altered cards as genuine;
  • commit fraud, launder money, or mislead your customers, for example by showing a customer summary you know is false;
  • post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexual, violent, or misleading on a storefront, in an offer, in a card-show listing, or anywhere else other people can see it;
  • break any law or infringe anyone else’s rights;
  • copy, modify, translate, or make derivative works of the Service, or rent, sell, resell, sublicense, or otherwise make it available to anyone else;
  • decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise try to get the source code of the Service, its card recognition, or the files and models that power it, or get around any encryption or other protection in the Service, except where the law expressly allows it despite this limit;
  • scrape, crawl, or use bots or other automated means to access the Service or copy any part of it, including card lists, card pictures, prices, barcode matches, and recognition results, other than through the app, the website, and the exports the Service provides;
  • use the Service, or anything you get from it, to build, train, test, or improve a competing product or service, including any card recognition, pricing, or AI system, or to copy its design or content;
  • overload or interfere with our systems, or try to get around security, billing, or trial limits; or
  • help anyone else do any of these things.

What you publish. You are responsible for what you put on your storefront, in offers, and in card-show listings you send us. Card-show listings are checked before they are shown. We may remove anything that breaks these Terms. To report something you see, use “Something wrong with this listing?” in the app or contact us.

If you break these rules, we may suspend or end your access (see Suspension and termination) and take any other action the law allows, including asking a court to stop it.

11. Your data

You own the data you put into the Service, including your collection, inventory, deals, shows, and notes (“Your Data”). You give us permission to store, copy, process, transmit, and display Your Data only as needed to operate and support the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not claim any other rights to it.

What you share to improve the Service. Some features send us information to make the Service better for everyone: anonymous sale prices, card corrections, the product you match to a barcode, and, only if you turn on Help improve card scanning, cropped pictures of the cards you confirm. Sale prices, card corrections and card pictures can each be turned off in Settings. You let us use what you send this way, without your name or account, to improve the Service for everyone, including card recognition that we may offer to others, as our Privacy Policy describes.

You confirm that you have the right to enter Your Data, including any information about your customers. We back up Your Data while you are logged in, but no backup is perfect, so we recommend exporting your records regularly. You can delete Your Data at any time by deleting your account.

We keep Your Data for as long as you keep using your account, on any plan. If, for 2 years, your account has had no paid subscription, free trial or free access and hasn’t been used in the app or on the website, we delete your account and Your Data. If we have a working email address for you, we will email you at least 30 days before we do; signing in or subscribing before then keeps your account. You can export Your Data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

12. Our intellectual property

The Service, including the app, website, software, design, and the CardBull name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. These Terms do not give you any ownership of it. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.

The same goes for the content in the Service: the card lists, the card pictures we host, prices, barcode matches, card recognition, and the way we gather and arrange them all belong to us or our licensors. This does not include Your Data, which stays yours (see Your data).

While you follow these Terms, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right, which we may withdraw, to use the app and the Service for your own business or collection. You may use what the Service shows you in your own records, labels, deals, and the exports the Service provides. You may not use it to build a database, product, or service of your own or for anyone else. We keep all rights we do not expressly give you.

Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, TCGplayer, eBay, and other names and marks mentioned in the Service belong to their respective owners. CardBull is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

13. Third-party services

The Service relies on services provided by other companies, such as Apple, Stripe, our hosting, email and AI providers, our price data providers, and the card catalogs listed on our Data sources & credits page. Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of their services, and we are not responsible for them.

14. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account on the website under Your account > Delete account, or in the app under Settings > Account > Your account > Delete account. Deleting your account cancels a subscription bought on our website right away, so nothing more is charged; your paid features end then, and the rest of the month you have paid for is not refunded. A subscription you have already canceled simply ends as scheduled. If we can’t cancel a website subscription at that moment, your account is not deleted, and we will ask you to cancel it under Manage subscription first. A subscription bought in the app through the App Store is between you and Apple, and deleting your account does not cancel it: cancel it under Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone before you delete your account, or Apple will keep charging you for a subscription you can no longer use. The app reminds you of this before your account is deleted.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, do not pay, create a risk or legal problem for us or others, or if the law requires it. Where reasonable, we will give you notice first. We may also stop offering the Service. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice so you can export your data, and we will refund any fees you prepaid on our website for the time after the Service ends; for App Store subscriptions, you can ask Apple for a refund.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should continue after termination will continue, including those on fees owed, your responsibilities, our intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and disputes.

15. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and accuracy. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that prices or calculations will be accurate, or that data will never be lost.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or data, even if we were told they were possible.
  • Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

These limits apply to every kind of claim, whether based on contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

17. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless HSC Commerce LLC and its owners, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, and costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that arise from your business and transactions, Your Data, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of any law.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute arises, please contact us first. We will try in good faith to resolve it informally within 30 days.

If we cannot resolve it, any legal action must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Hawaii, and you and we both consent to their jurisdiction. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court. To the extent the law allows, claims must be brought individually and not as part of a class or representative action.

19. Apple App Store

If you downloaded the app from Apple’s App Store or TestFlight, you also agree that:

  • These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that the app infringes someone’s intellectual property.
  • Subscriptions bought in the app are purchased from Apple, and Apple’s terms govern the payment, renewal, cancellation and any refund. Apple is not responsible for the plan’s features, which we provide.
  • The price shown in the app at the time of purchase is the price Apple charges each month, plus any taxes Apple collects, until you cancel or Apple tells you of a change.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

20. General terms

  • Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app at least 15 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the new Terms.
  • Notices. You agree that we may send notices to the email address on your account and that electronic notices meet any legal requirement for written notice.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • Severability and waiver. If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we have not waived it.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business.
  • Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages at our service providers, natural disasters, or network failures.
  • Relationship. These Terms do not create any partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and us.
